We arrived at 2pm with just 5 customers who were already seated. We were just an additional 2 customers. We were seated and ordered. Server brought out our cups and the right cup still had the previous drinks residue in it. GROSS. Bolgogi was dry as if they microwaved it and brought it out. Don't get me wrong, I've been here many times, I love hoban...but this last experience was horrible . This will be my last time here, quality has gone down a lot.
My favorite place for Korean food. I crave the Dolsot Bibimbop with beef and love all the little picked side dishes.
Great food, lovely people working there.
We got fabulous take out here!
Before Covid19 Hoban was a nice place to eat! The prices are decent especially compared to the Minneapolis location. When its busy service lacks but it's getting better than it was before. The spicy wing taste different now not sure if they changed the sauce. The walls seem to never be clean you can see all sorts of food debris all over them. AFTER Covid we mainly get take out and the issue I have with that is they seem to CARE LESS on the QUALITY of their food. NUMEROUS times I've ordered Kalbi and they LITERALLY throw on RAW onions and mushrooms when they're suppose to be cooked with the meat.
Great food! For an appetizer, I recommend the Man Doo (fried dumplings). The Rice Bowls are awesome, especially the Dolsot Bibimbap, or if you like seafood, try the Seafood Dolsot Bap. I also recommend the Meat Jun, Korean-style egg pancakes with bulgogi inside.
This spot clearly knows how to please their clients. Constantly with a very friendly attitude. The food is affordably priced, regularly tasty and neat.
Tried the lunch buffet. Very good for the price.
ALMOST PERFECT...We ordered the Galbi, Seafood Pajun, Teji Bulgogi and Chap Chae. These dishes were fantastic. My beef is with the pan chan. They were seriously lacking in flavor and "authentic" variety. If they put as much TLC in these little "sides" as they did with the other dishes they would RULE! We will be back and see if this post does any good. (6 years later) this place has gone downhill. I don’t know why they changed the cooks but the food is HORRIBLE. The younger generation is ruining my favorite Korean restaurant. Bring the elders back
I just enjoyed their food. I always get good customer service here. The place is well organised and the employees are always very nice. I highly recommend this place.
I have never eaten grilled giblets at any other restaurant. Honestly, I didn't like giblets. After having eaten grilled giblets from this restaurant while sharing various dishes with friends, this is my favorite dish now. The spicy sauce and chewy texture are really the best. It is strongly recommended for those who like spicy food. Hoban restaurant's grilled giblets is a taste beyond imagination.
me and a few friends ordered through doordash. it was my first time trying korean food where my friends had recommended it. it was SUPER tasty. i’ll be ordering again and hopefully coming in when i get the chance.
Unfortunately, this place has gone down hill. I have been coming here for at least 10 years. Tonight was my worst experience in a Korean restaurant in MN. I blame the pandemic, but there must be more they could do. The food came out cold and smelling old. The spices in the kimchee chigae smelled more like chipotle than Korean. Sad. I hope it's not in response to western palets they changed the flavors. Hoping for a more authentic Korean food experience in the future and better days ahead for all.
Poor service. The waiter forgot about my order, let my food sit in the kitchen and was burnt. They forgot about my check and was clumsy. Food was okay and rice was soggy. The table and seats were dirty. It looked like they didn’t clean it and there were bugs flying around.
Mashisoyo! Very authentic. I was stationed in Pohang, Korea for a year and Hoban serves the only decent Korean food that I've found in Minnesota so far, and I've tried everywhere. The service here is top notch and the pricing is incredibly reasonable. I ordered Pajeon, Mandoo, and Kalbi all for about $30. That's enough food to feed three people. (the mandoo wasn't quite Korean, it was Japanese style gyoza but it was still good) Gamsahamnida!
Friendly staff. Good food. Affordable price.
Need more wait staff. VARY SLOW!!!
Too many flies and food is not worth the money. The bibim naengmyeon smelled rotten and food is not good
Our 2nd time here and its been great both times! Highly recommend.
Food was excellent!
Fantastic food and service!
First time. And it was wonderful so much food.
Staff was friendly, place was clean, quality tasting food, great portion size for price, location easy to find. Karaoke bar right next door. Boba tea shop couple doors down.
Great choice ? Everything tasted amazing and presentation was great. Not to mention the awesome service... Food 10/10 Waiter 20/10
The food was ok, the service is awful, the restaurant is dirty. I asked to send my jajangmyun back because the noodles were too rubbery. I've been throwing up since I got home from the restaurant.
Such great food here. Super authentic and great service. A lot of bang for your buck. They have the best bibimbap that I've tried yet.
Front desk receptionists didn’t acknowledge that I was there. I have been standing by front counter waiting for 30min while two customers walk in and two other people came out of the restaurant to pay their bills. I noticed they were busy but when two Asian customers walk in the guy at the front desk said I’ll be right with you. I felt discriminated and I won’t come to this place again.
Amazing food and great service!
Korean food and the setting here is great. This location is absolutely outstanding. Really nothing but great experiences here, so I will be back. Prices that are reasonable.
I was genuinely surprised at how good the food tasted. The food is very authentic, like the staff. Since I don't read Korean or Chinese, they helped me understand the menu options. Most of the food options are large and served family style.
Love Hoban! All of the dishes I've tried have been delicious (especially the rice bowls (bibimbap) with the crispy rice). The staff is always very attentive and friendly as well. I've been here several times and have never been disappointed.
Use to be the best, I can tell now the owner and cooks have changed. It doesn't taste Korean anymore, I use to love this place but it's just not like it use to be. The tempura we got was all undercooked raw, the spicy fish soup was just watery and tasted like smelly fish. The banchan is not like it use to be either. Not going back there are better Korean restaurants.
We ordered for to go, and both our pancakes were hurned. SO SAD!!!
Honestly this is a hard review to write but it has to be done. Maybe they spruce up the place a bit with this review. This spot used to be one of my favorite with my friends and family to come to but over the last couple of years it has gone down. Primarily with the cleanliness and service. I’ll start with the service. It has dramatically gone down since I first started coming here. They are very under staffed and the servers don’t get to you promptly. The moment you take a seat it takes a couple of minutes before someone comes by to even get you some water or drinks. Then when your order arrives they never come back again to check on the quality of the food or if you need any refills. Next cleanliness. It seems as though they never clean the walls next to the booths because you can see all kinds of stuff on them. From food, to people’s bodily fluids and even blood. I kid you not, I have gone and sat at the same booth a couple of times and have seen the same stains from the last time I was there. Hopefully this place can tighten things up during this COVID break. It seems a lot of my friends feel the same and have stopped coming here all together.
Great authentic Korean restaurant. I usually order Dol Sot Bim Bap or Futo Maki.
Authentic korean food. This is one of the places Koreans go to eat. They also have karaoke rooms of course. Thefy are also dine up well!
The dolsot bibimbap is amazing, some of the best korean food I've found around the cities!
Used to love this place, been going almost 30 years, but in the last year or so, the food (accuracy to what was ordered) and especially service have really deteriorated.
So good!
Korean taste restaurant..
I Enjoyed the Food There. They were Quick to give us our Order and were VERY Polite. This place deserves a 4. The tables were Really Clean. No Bugs. No Rude Customers. But Great Food. I will Come Back to eat There AMAZING food.
Been coming here for 25+ years. 5-star service and quality every time!
I’ve been going here for about 15 years now! Always have friendly and fast service. The food is delicious every single time.
We wanted try out this place since we were in the area at the time and read great reviews about it. Definitely was not what we expected. The person who seated us was very kind, but no one came and took our order, so he ended up serving us instead. The restaurant looked clean in pictures, but it is straight up dirty. The walls were dirty, fruit flies flying all over the place and our food. The water jug was the most dirtiest thing and dishes were not clean. Our server brought out our side dishes and it did not look appetizing at all. It was so dry as if they didn't cover it in the back. Literally flies were flying all over our food. Really disgusting. Our food came out fast though, but then we didn't even have the appetite anymore because of all that. I loved that their menu has great selections and a lot of authentic Korean dishes. But their flavorings as well was very different from other Korean restaurants. The pork bulgogi did not taste at all like others, had a very weird taste. It wasn't as appetizing. We did like the boiled pork with veggies and the cold noodles, but couldn't find the appetite for it either. Definitely would not recommend this place!! I'd rather spend more at Hoban and DongHae in Minneapolis.
So So Good!! Highly recommend, will be returning
There are very few Korean options in the Twin Cities metro area. I enjoyed my meal here but can't say it's amazing. They have an extensive menu so you'll find something you like. The prices were good and the portions were large. Check out out.
This spot is one of my favorites! Convenient pricing, large portions and the staff are consistently welcoming.
great place for lunch.
Fast service, great food!
Below average service. Server constant missing. Food is okay. Lots of side dishes
